While the role took a pause halfway through the pandemic, the accomplishments the team made were not insignificant:
- Built a strategic framework for the team to plan activities and efforts around
- Led the company to 1st place in the Carbon Cleanse Waterloo Region challenge, going head to head with other local organizations in a friendly sustainability competition
- Worked with executive leadership to allow Qmates to participate in local Climate Strikes during work hours
- Produced scrappy, humorous weekly eQo Green Tip videos to educate employees on different aspects of sustainability View sample videos here
- Posted weekly eQo Green Tips on social media to spread awareness and indicate to clients how important it is to the company
- Implemented locally-sourced dish/hand soap and lotions in refillable, zero-waste containers
- Encouraged employee carpooling via prime parking spot locations for carpoolers
- Encouraged responsible waste sorting and water usage via signage
- Worked with local coffee roaster to have grounds delivered in reusable containers and returned for refilling
- Hosted an in-office popup swap shop with remaining items being donated to local thrift shops
- Diverted waste from landfills by collecting Qmate pumpkins after the holidays and donating them to animal sanctuaries around the region
- Held educational sustainability Lunch 'n Learns for employees
